In recognition of the increasing need for affordable search engine ranking services, Rank Magic was formed as a division of Treloar Associates in 2003. In 2009, Rank Magic was reformed as an limited liability corporation, and in tail-wagging-the-dog style became the parent organization of Treloar Associates.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Search engine optimization (sometimes abbreviated as SEO) is the process of modifying a website so that it appears higher in the list of results of major search engines when users search for your products or services. This is sometimes called "website optimization".
All the major search engines use proprietary systems of evaluating web sites against keyword phrases entered by people.
Proper search engine optimization, such as that done by Rank Magic, ensures that a website appeals to all of the individual search engine ranking algorithms. And it uses "ethical" methods that are approved by the search engines, preventing your site from being penalized for employing "sneaky" or "spammy" techniques.
The Goal of Website Optimization
Our goal at Rank Magic is to always strive for that #1 ranking. You and we realize that's an impossible goal to achieve for every keyword and in every search engine, but it nevertheless is the goal. A top 10 ranking is better than a top 20 ranking, and top 20 ranking is obviously better than a top 30 ranking.
But after the top 30, you might as well not even be on the list, because so few people bother to dig down deeply enough to find you.

Search engine optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Positioning (SEP) are often used interchangeably to refer to techniques that improve your website ranking in the search engines. Rank Magic treats search engine positioning as broader in scope than search engine optimization, though both are related to search engine promotion.
Website Ranking
Web site ranking is what you need to generate increased business from your company's web site. Web site ranking refers to the position your web site appears in on a search engine when a potential client searches for your products or services. If your web site ranking is in the top ten, that usually means you're on the first page of the listings. That's an enviable place to be! If your web site ranking isn't in the top 30, then you can figure your potential clients are giving up (or finding a competitor!) before they ever see your web site listed. You need to be in the top 30 for most or all of the essential keywords potential customers will use. You want to be in the top ten. And you'd love to be at #1. Your web site ranking is critical to your search engine promotion success.
